IN MEMORY OF NYPD DETECTIVE RUSSEL TIMOSHENKO
artist: Rochelle X 2 It has been a
year since Officer Timoshenko was slain while in the performance of his duty. Just 23 years old, barely out of officer
training. He served our city honorably 1yr. 5mo. as part of the 71st Princinct, Brooklyn, NY. Last year thousands
of police officers gathered for his funeral, in Brooklyn ........a fallen colleague.
Rochelle X2, fine artist,
personally heartbroken by this event decided to honor his memory by painting his portrait posthumously and presenting it to
the surviving parents. She got her wish this June '08 at a Staten Island Soccer Field dedicated in Detective Timoshenko's
name. Among those in attendance was Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Borough President Staten Island Molinaro.
Hundreds of our men in blue were in attendance as well as family and friends. The artist commemorated
the portrait to the memory Det. Timoshenko and to those who sacrifice their life in the service of New York City.
When word of Det. Russel Timoshenko's death was detailed over the media, I felt an emotional attachment to his family
for their loss. In tribute I decided to do a portrait of officer Timoshenko to give to his family as a small token of
my personal thanks for his service to our city and in recognition of those officers fallen in the line of duty.

of his portrait on this day.
I was honored to be a presentor at a recent dedication memorializing Det. Timoshenko
and was introduced to his parents and gave them the completed portrait. As I read the commemoration to the family our
hearts melted and we could not help but cry together.
The ceremony took place in Staten Island. Present
at this event were Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, Borough President Molinaro as well as Parks Department dignataries (responsible
for the soccer field naming), Inspector Delahanty of the 122nd Precinct and many many other honoroable men who serve our
